Exeter High School Teacher Nominated for National LifeChanger of the Year Award
EXETER — Principal Michael Monahan is pleased to announce that Exeter High School Health Education teacher Karlyn Supple has been nominated as a 2017-2018 LifeChanger of the Year.
LifeChanger of the Year is an annual program that recognizes kindergarten through 12th grade school employees and educators who make a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying positive influence and leadership.
“On behalf of the entire school community, we want to congratulate Karlyn for being nominated as a LifeChanger of the Year,” Principal Monahan said. “We’re honored to have her represent our school and extremely proud of her ability to connect and support our students.”
Nominations are open to all kindergarten through 12th grade public, private and charter school teachers in the United States. Sophomore Michael Mahoney nominated Supple after she helped him through the period in his life when he was coming out to friends and family about his sexual orientation. Supple showed him support, love and care, just as she does with all of her students.
“Mrs. Supple is a role model that people look up to and she deserves the best of everything,” Mahoney wrote in his nomination. “She demonstrates all of the following without even breaking a sweat: a proven ability to make a beneficial difference in the lives of students, the ability to positively add to the development of the school’s atmosphere, leadership within her school and/or district, a record of excellent performance at the professional level, commitment to producing a nurturing atmosphere and adherence to high moral and ethical standards.”
The nominations for the 2017-2018 LifeChanger of the Year Program concludes on Dec. 31. After all the nominations are received, a selection committee will choose a total of 16 winners, one Grand Prize winner, four Grand Prize finalists, 10 LifeChangers and a LifeChanger Spirit Award. The Grand Prize winner receives $10,000, the Grand Prize finalists receive $5,000, the LifeChangers receive $3,000 and the LifeChanger Spirit Award winner receives $5,000. All awards are split evenly between the recipient and the school.
